Achievement Introduction:

Turbot is a unique flounder in the Northeast Atlantic and European coastal waters. It has the characteristics of fast growth, adapting to low water temperature, good meat quality, high price, high breeding and market potential. It is internationally recognized as a rare species of mariculture fish. In order to fundamentally change the lagging development of marine fish aquaculture industry in northern coastal areas of China, such as "commercial fish could not be cultivated within a year" and "overwintering difficulties", turbot was selected as the introduction object after years of investigation. In 1992, Turbot was first introduced in China from the United Kingdom. After seven years of scientific and technological research, independent innovation and three years of popularization and application, the technical difficulties such as difficult egg collection, high albinism rate and low survival rate were solved. A series of research achievements were made in domestication, cultivation, parent fish cultivation, seedling production, nutritional feed, disease control and basic research. At the same time, good results has been achieved in the annual cycle of eggs collection in batches and multi-stubble seedling rearing, the average survival rate of seedling rearing is 17%, and the annual fry production is more than 1 million. A factory farming mode of "greenhouse + deep well seawater" has been established, which conforms to the national conditions. This model has the characteristics of simplicity, energy saving, small investment and quick recovery, which made turbot aquaculture industry develop rapidly in northern China and become a large industry with annual output value of more than 2 billion yuan. The turbot industry has experienced the development process of "from scratch to growth" and "from small to large". With the continuous improvement of technology and equipment, the domestic seedlings have completely reached the level of production and supply of self-sufficiency. The introduction and industrialization of turbot have exerted a tremendous impact and social efficiency on the coastal areas of northern China and even the whole country. Turbot aquaculture has become a pillar industry of marine aquaculture in northern China, and has led the development direction of other flounder and marine fish aquaculture.
